New Engine - Out with the Old

July 13

Removal of the original Yanmar engine required padding the cabin and gangway, removing the Bimini and widening the entrance to the engine in the salon. The 500lb engine was then hoisted up and out using the boom and halyards.

The newYanmar 4JH 110 was then hoisted up and lowered into the cabin and carefully inserted into the engine room.

With the old engine removed and the new engine installed the next step was schedule the Yanmar technician to come and run computer diagnostics to confirm systems were running correctly. Once blessed, we were required to run the engine for 50 hours, changing the RPM’s by 100 increments every 10 minutes. And so, we had a pleasant few weeks motoring up and down the Chesapeake.
