Sail to Charleston

Beautiful sail from Bohickett Marina to Charleston with our LF, Chicago, Madison CT friends Bill and Mary Witkewicz. A real treat our retirement locations are connecting so nicely.

Special Bistari Guests

We moved Bistari to Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina for a long weekend with Letra, Jack, Henry and Louise Pritchett.

Problem solving - No Bow Truster

We said farewell to the Pritchetts, rested up and planned to leave the marina for an anchorage to await a good weather window to Urbanna, VA. Or so we thought. As we were leaving the next morning, we released the lines, began backing out of the slip when our bow thruster died. Not wanting to make the tight turn with the ebbing tide and current we returned to the slip and “had a cup of tea”.

Ken dove down to check if there was an obstruction. Unfortunately, there was no obstruction. We opted to stay one more night at the marina allowing us to depart at slack tide. Later in the week after our arrival to Urbanna we were able to isolate the problem. The nut on the fuse housing was loose, causing the fuse holder to arch, which wrecked the fuse. We replaced the fuse housing, got a new fuse and just like that we had a working bow thruster.
