Corsica to Rome

Rolling from 4-6 waves, 25 kt sustained winds.

October 13,2024

We are truly having the best adventure. Some days are harder than others, but right now we are motoring to Ponza, enjoying a beautiful view of Mt Vesuvius. We anchored last night off Nettuno and Anzio.

Today is gorgeous - perfect temperature, calm seas, total relaxation.  We’re planning to spend the next week or so along the Almafi coast.

But it’s not always “the dream”. Take a few days ago after an overnight sail from Corsica to Rome when the wind was howling at 25kts and waves were 4-6’ on our beam. Arriving about 11am we radioed the marina for a slip assignment. We were advised not to come in as the entrance was too tight for conditions. Fortunately an unfinished marina with a completed break wall was just up the shore. We anchored there for 2 nights, protected but still rolling a bit. We were not able to go into Rome. Instead, in celebration of our Italian arrival we made chicken cacciatore, drank Chiant wine and watched The Godfather😁
